| Actually, when people do stuff like that, do they actually make the car faster? I mean, yeah, you might be able to push the car faster in a straight road. But what is the trade off regarding to the CG position? What about control and handling? Realibility? Weight penalty? When turning, CG location is very sensitive, by adding more weight to the front, and reducing the weight at the back (i saw the CF boot) you might be making the car more unstable, considering the inherited instability of a front engine car. (Try to consider the moment arm in turning, you will know what i mean) I believe the engineers in BMW really know what they are doing. For the engine with certain HP installed, the frame can sustain that much HP only. In other words, to make the strucutre as light as possible, the margin of safety should be about 0. Say if you put more weight in a structurally critical component, it will increase the load factor, and by putting a more powerful engine in a car that is not designed to do that, I really find it hard to justify. Well, anyway... I do understand the joy of modding though. |

I wonder if he is using the CSL driveline or if he's swapped in the M5 box and diff etc? It's certainly a hot car, but it's a bit of a waste butchering a CSL like that. |

Nelson, its a CSL. They had semislicks as an option. If they were made to withstand those forces im sure they can withstand a few more kW. Its a stock bmw engine, im sure it would be quite reliable. |

| hey U might not like the seats, but I tells ya you love them heaps when you are in the car racing round eastern creek...they grip quite well ![]() But that's a nice conversion, wonder how it drives ![]() Also I wouldn't be surprised if Hartge did the conversion, as they have made a V8 M3 before ![]()
