E46 ///m3 Or E39 ///m5

I have a E36 ///M3 (95) this year I'm planing on buying a new car and this are my to choices a E39 M5 or a E46 M3. I can make up my mind the M5 has 400 bhp, but are 4door. The new M3 have 333hp. Which one is better and why?

I prefere the more subtle (sort of) M5, its pure power, keeps up with sports cars, but is also just as home at an executive meeting, or with the GFs parents, as well as infront of a nice reastaurant.

M3 has advantages too, its more nimble and more agressive looking.

You'll be more than happy with either one I'm sure.

I would say it depends on what you intend to do with the car, but overall, I would also choose the M5. If you're buying them used, and price is a factor, then perhaps the M3 will fit your budget more easily.

How long would you keep the car....until your married, if you are going to? I ask because if so the M5 would be more practical choice, of those two cars. I would personally get the M3 coupe and if you have a M5 and your buddies can rid in it that means more than likely your be the DD, because I sure as hell wouldn't let anyone drive the M5. Ultimately it's up to you, and both cars have their +/-'s.

the only thing about the new M5, which i have test drove, is that it has no bottom end, like i mean nothing. It really makes me said because I had a 91' and that was a best top and bottom. The M5 is still fast top end and looks beautiful but since you have a E36 then i guess i would say M5
