| Convertible or Hard top I think there are positive and negatives to both but I am not sure which one outweighs the other. My Mustang is convertible and I love it, great for nice weather. I do think that some cars are nice as convertibles and some should strictly be hard tops. Examples, -Trans Ams and Camaros = ugly as convertibles although T-tops are great. -BMW's I prefer hard tops over convertible, but convertibles are nice -S2000's look great with the top down -Audi's are not nice with convertible -Mustangs look good either way So I conclude that convertibles are great for style and comfort. However when performance comes into play. I think hard tops are better. They are more safe and secure the driver from accidents. Also I think that hardtops are made to become performance vehicles rather then convertibles geared more towards style. I am also not sure if racetracks allow convertibles, races such as drifting or circuit tracks. Leave feedback and responses

| Convertible and Hardtop I perfer convertibles for maybe cruising only..especially on a warm sunny day drivin topless has its advantages. on the other hand, convertibles may weigh without a top but the body structure tends to be weaker than the full body coupe. handling is also better with a hardtop over convertibles |

| Yeah I agree, I love taking the top down and crusing, it feels great. Anyone know if tracks will allow you to participate in races with a convertible? Not drag tracks but drifting tracks and other circle tracks.

| ah i doubt it..i've never really seen any at any tracks..i would guess they wouldnt becuase of the safety factor..maybe if u put on a hardtop..but i doubt they'll let u take it down even if u have the roll bar, u could get hit by debris or sumthing |

| I thought the hard top was just a snap on top. I didn't know that it did anything to the chasis, but I guess it kinda acts like a huge sway bar. I am not sure if they make a hard top for mustangs, or at least I've never seen one. Yea I know for safety purposes that convertibles are more then likely not allowed on the race track even if the top is up.

| after looking closely at the new 335i with the convertible hard top (the only car I've ever spent any time with with this feature) I wonder how much it can really stiffen the chassis relative to a soft top. Sure does look great though |

| In my opinion, there are only a few cars that look good as convertibles. Most look too girly for me. The car that looks great as a convertible is the Z4. It's my Dad's but I know what feeling your talking about driving with the top down. But, my 325is would look atrocious as a convertible. Plus, there is the speed and safety factor too.

| I like 2 seat roadsters. 2+2 convertibles don't do it for me and I wold take the coupe every time. In terms of performance most coupes have better structural rigidity and weight a whole lot less. That makes it a given for me. |
