| MMM I had a similar problem this past weekend. I had just changed the battery about a month and half ago. No check engine light then. But I too had left my car in the garage for about 3 weeks due to the cold weather and snow. I went to start it on Saturday it had a little trouble starting and then had trouble staying started. After the 3rd try it stayed started but the check engine light came on. During one of the starts there was a loud pop noise (sounded like the intake sucking in air very quickly). Anyway I took at for a drive and seemed to fine. Well the next day (Sunday) I decided to take it out for another ride and see how it started. So it starts with one turn and the check engine light went out.
So to say that your battery caused the check engine light problem is possible. Maybe your battery is low and on its way out and the check engine light is a sign of that. Have your battery checked out at an auto shop, usual a free service and can't hurt.
