so i wanna get a track pipe for my 88 M6...

...but since i'm such a newb...i don't know where to look or even exactly what it is...would it be too loud? will it sound like rice? i hear good things like it can free up 15 hp or so....


can anyone help me out? where should i look? how much money will i be looking at? is it something that should only be used at the track and not everyday driving? hence "track" pipe?
