| BMW NA said the only way they would import it was if it was offered with a 6 cylinder engine. There just simply isn't a market for a 4 cylinder BMW in the states. Rumor is that a 6 cylinder version is on it's way along with an M version.

| they've been on sale here for a few months now. drove one just after they came out. a 120i. drives absolutely excellent although could do with some more grunt. but the steering is defiantely the high light. in comparing it to the e46 318i (only e46 i've driven) that i drove just a few dyas before, the 120i was waaaaaaay better. it looks heaps better in the metal, and silver and black look the goods imo. this is the options list... all prices in australian dollars btw ![]() ![]() ![]() this is what we wrote about it in the australia forum when it just came out Thinking of 1 Series oh yeah, the latest whispers on the M1 is that it will be an inline 6. apparently think of the m5/6 v10 cut in half with an extra cylinder chucked on the end of it. no actual pics have been released of the m1 yet but there are a lot of photoshopped ones getting around.

| I've heard that the inline 6 in the M version of the 1 Series will be the S54. Also I don't know if BMW will use the M1 name on this car. There's too much history with the original M1.

| i've head the stories about the s54 too but don't believe that bmw would use the same engine in 2 different m cars. the m engines are usually designed with a particular car in mind. as for what name to use i have heard discussions of doing what they did with some of the old 5 series and calling it an M132 or something like that. save the trouble of bringing back the m1 name on a totally different car
