DTM's Tom Milner to drive for PTG Motorsport in '05

So I was just browsing around Speed TV's news coverage of the tire switch in the Grand Am series, scrolled down to PTG's quotes on the new tires, and read what his father said in the interview:

“My son (Tom) will be racing next year, he will be racing with Justin in the car,” Milner said. “The reason why he’s not here is that he’s got to go to school. He’s in his first year of college. Tom has a lot to learn, and Justin has some experience having been the co-driver of Bill, so that was obviously good. I suspect that they will do a very good job. Bill and Joey will be together, then we will have Ian James and Chris Gleason and Kelly Collins and RJ Valentine. For Daytona, we’ll take all of those eight drivers and have four drivers per car. We are going to run the four cars the first time (in Round 2 of the 2005 season) at Homestead.”

We talked about it before, but reading it in the news is a little different, what a lucky guy.. racing for a team that's represented BMW Motorsport for so long.

On a side note, for those of you who didn't know, they won the Grand Am GT class (drivers, points, and manufacturers championship."

Haha yeah he is, I actually lived near him for a while.

I was driving around one night (semi-lost) and saw a mini at an intersection. I knew he drove one but I was like.. hmm ok, whatever. I saw the same car a second later then remembered he went to HS in the area.. followed him into a parking lot and we talked for a while (the mini was fairly new at that point so I was impressed by the thing.)

I followed him out onto the local highway (to get un-lost) and that thing was really hard to keep up with! Not sure how he managed, but I feel a lot better knowing I was looking at the taillights of a car being driven by a future M3 GT/Grand Am driver. lol
