Radar Detector under $150

I know the radar detector question has been brough up numerous times...but most of them I read are between the valentine 1 and escort.

Im lookin for something under $150 for an Xmas present for a friend. Any ideas on what the best deal would be?

You'll just be wasting your money. Look for something else to buy your friend.

Or, you could look on eBay for someone selling their Passport X50 after they found out they V1 rules.

I was thinkin the Whistler DE1783 doesn't sound to bad for the money.....

i have an older bel detector it gives some false alarms but has also saved me more than a few times bel845? i doubt its even made anymore(bought it in '00)

Valentine one is the way to go if you are on the highway.

Escort X50 is the way to go in the city

Yes, and i'am sorry i didnt elaborate, I'am at work right now.. But seriously, dont even buy someone a radar detector if it is not one of those two, you are wasting your time and his time (when he gets the ticket)

I researched the shit out of this stuff before buying my valentine1, if you want good breakdowns on all detectors, check out

epinions.com, you can even search by price, I love that site, it has many good reviews.

hey, for 150 dollars ill sit in ur friends car and tell him when I see a cop. pretty much the same thing a 150 dollar radar detector will do

thats soo true. those detectors go off once you see the cop. they are useless

i'll add to the knocking on your thick skull. It's worthless to get a radar detector unless it's a V1. Hell even then you have to watch your ass

But if your friend wants a $150 noise maker then go for it.

mine was $70 and its not useless. i buy whole cars for $700 im not gonna pay that for a detector lol

I totally agree trust me getting a cheap radar detector really isnt better than nothing its the same thing ull be kicking urself later when u wish u sprung for better... trust me! save up itll pay off when the one u buy gets u out of a 300 ticket when the cheap one u bought didnt work. I know friends who have made that error.
