Arrow E46 M3 In Danger, Please Come To This Thread!

Guys, look at my info and you'll see that I wrote "m3 in december." well its my bday in 17 days, and my dad and i went shopping for the m3. Saw a nice black on black one, last one left, wanted to buy. HERES THE BEST PART. The rep at the dealer, ill just say in socal, CONVINCES MY DAD to consider a 330ci instead of an m3.

So now, my dad keeps on saying he deosn't want me driving a fast car, "REPEATING WHAT THE DEALER SAID TO HIM" and he says its too much of a car for me. Guys, we need to get this M into my garage, and make DTMPower its home!! HOW CAN I CONVINCE MY DAD to get me an M3, and what deals and stuff can i find out about taht will lower the price?!? THe rep said he will give 100 dollars off the msrp.

ANYTHING GUYS!?!

YOUR POSTS CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN ME GETTING AN M3 or a 330CI!!

Find a different dealer and get him to offer a better deal. Then spend the time explaining to your dad how much better an m3 is in the long run because its such a collectable car. Also, offer to take a driving school to give him piece of mind.

The M3 is worth every penny, Just learn and explain how the two cars differ (the motor and diff alone are worth buying this car) After he sees how passionate you are about this car, he should be more flexible....

PS. Trust me on this situation

I agree go to a different dealer! Or speak with the owner and tell the owner the sales guy is a tool. Tell the sales guy that if you dont get the m3 you will tell your father to buy you a car from somwhere else like an nsx instead or an amg or somthing and the sales guy will loose the sale! So basicaly tell him to shut his pie hole or you will kick him in the nuts!

But if all else fails, you still have a 330ci that you can supercharge or turbo!

Your best bet is to argue the rates of depreciation between the M3 vs. a standard E46, show him what the first run E46's are now selling for, eg 2001 M3 vs. 2001 323i, etc.

I doubt showing off the power aspect of the car will help convince your dad, who doesn't want you in a fast car. Other than arguing long-term value I would PERSONALLY contact several dealerships and try to find a deal that will blow the socks off the one you're currently considering... to sweeten the deal ($$$ wise) you may want to show your dad CPO E46 M3's you would prefer over new E46's - this will also emphasize how much you would prefer the M version over the regular E46.

if worse comes to worse.. accept that ur getting an 330CI.. i mean any BMW is better than no BMW.. make a deal with your folks that if u have no accidents and can show that you are competent driver.. and then ask for the M3.. but that doesnt always work.. yeah try another dealer and tell ur dad that depreciation value on an M3 is far less on a 330Ci.. good luck..

Look, I am a salesman and I can guarantee that he would never sell a car worth less than and M3 if someone was willing to purchase it. I think this kid has told everyone that his Dad was going to buy him an M3 and now, because his Dad is re-negging, he wants to blame it on the Salesman for 'talking' his Dad out of the M3 and into a 330ci.

Sorry dude, but I aint buying that crap. I shake my head. Does anyone out there really believe that a BM salesman would try and sell a cheaper car... I can only use Australia as an example, but the M3 is about $70 thousand AUD more then a 330ci, and the commission for him would also be greatly reduced.

Any takers?

well you may not be buying that "crap," but you also might not be doing a good job as a salesman. The good salesman would fit each product to the customers application..say for example...I won't sell a 60'' Tv to a guy who only has a 10 by 15 room. Some good salesmen aren't 100% driven by strickly there numbers....I think it is the similar situation here....where the salesman sees a new driver and doesn't want to hand him 333 hp and a manual so that he can in turn be cut off on the highway with it...lol

My vote is let him have the car and find a dealer that wants to sell you what you want. I would rather give him what he wants and let him enjoy it rather than having a pissed off kid comming in for service and saying "theres the jerkoff who talked my dad out of an M" that in my book is a capital offence.....

The price differential between a 330Ci and an M3 is vast... I think your father didn't realise how expensive an M3 is and is blaming that on the salesman.... If this is indeed correct, do as another member suggested and go for a CPO'ed M3 that is in the same price range as a new 330Ci.

personally, I'd be happy to get a free car! LOL
