Car Domain for DTM'ers?

Ricer Free? Better design? No add's? Well www.chadrichard.net (my company) are looking into building a site for a school project and we would like to build something usefull. Im just posting this to see if anyone is interested in a site that they could use to post there project and updates and use it to host sigs and images of there project cars/bikes. Please post if your interested. Also feel free to post some ideas of your own that we could try to include in this design. This would be pretty much exclusive to DTMPower.net... Sorry for grammer errors. Im in a mad rush and I need to get this posted before I go any further.

Do you post constantly on forums about your car, but struggle to find some place to host the pictures? Do you also think that cardomain is full of faggot ricers who dont know the real meaning of horsepower and torque? Are you ready for a Revolution?

Me (Chadwick) and Richard are here to change things for you. With our extensive knowledge of php/mysql scripting we are going to give you what to you want to show people why you can kick their ass on the street. We are going for the no-bullshit method. You get what you want, and nothing more. Registration is simple, username, password, email address, done.

The question is, what exactly do you want? Obviously your going to want to post pictures, and be provided with a link to copy and paste onto the forum. You probably want to be able to add captions to the pictures (if you want we can make the captions part of the image through a simple form). We also know that you are going to want a page where you can enter your car stats, mods, etc. This will allow you to also easily compare it to other cars on the site. We can add a rating system for the over car that way you make the dumbasses who post bullshit stats look like morons.

Tell us what you want, and we will make it happen, this is for you, this is theREVOLUTION.

I hope you have a good budget. A media website can be very expensive.

If you plan on hosting pictures, videos, sites, etc... I would be guessing you would be spending at least $1,000 a month in server bills. Once the site gets busy that bill is just going to get bigger.

If you are going to allow remote hosting of images you are going to need a dedicated host and a nice allotment of bandwidth...

I have a pair of dedicated dual 3.2GHz P4 servers hosting 10 content websites, delivering roughly 800gb/month of content - I have no doubt 'cardomain' is doing something larger, and I spend roughly $900 a month for my hosting.

Now if you are just starting out you will not need the kind of processing power I use on my established sites, and a good place for a cheap dedicated host is raq4less.com - I used to use them quite a while back, and they have nice base-level dedicated servers with the usuals, eg. apache, mysql, etc. around $100 - that said if you are unable to put up the cash your site will never grow, just like all of the 'sig hosting' sites - you need a way to make money, and you will be hard pressed to get advertising on your site - combind this with the massive server setup costs, people who will cheat your service by using it to host their web graphics (and save their bandwidth) and your site won't last 6 months.

CarDomain is cool to check out other makes and models you normally wouldn't see everyday on a (relatively ) brand-specific forum such as this one. DTM already provides each member with image attachments as well as their own gallery though. Many here already post their project's the Member's Rides section.

Your idea is not necessarily a bad one, but from a business standpoint it would be tough to implement since the basic need has already been filled.
