Getting my first auto need some advice

hey guys, i just registered here but i have read these forums for some time now and it seems that now I am getting my first car. I know this is more of a BMW inspired forum but i would like some honest answers.

Well first of i have ten thousand saved up and im thinking either spending it upfront or take the car up on a lease. I herd if I would lease a car then iw ould loose a lot of money in the end.

As of now im thinking more of a japanese car like a 2000 Nissan maxima or a 2002 Nissan Altima. Something just to get me stared and learn on, i dont intend on keeping the car after im done with college.

And yea i know i could get a lot of older cars for 10 grand but i dont want a old car and worry about maintence because really i cant afford heavy car maintance since college life is a little expensive. So im thinking newer cars. Oh and if i would get the 2002 altima i would have to get the inline4 version.

Well guys give me your thoughts tell me what you think.

a Scooby WRX. They are fairly cheap, fast, reliable, and sexy. You can get an 02 for 14k-16k.

I cant spend more then 10 thousand dollars on a car.. so the WRX is out of the question

ok then, i highly suggest a Volvo S70 T5. 0-60 in 6.2 secs, 5 cyl turbo, safe, and reliable.

Ive had my s70 since 98 (has 90k miles now) and the only prob i have ever had was the master window switch ($10 fix).
