If you had $15,000 USD......

and you NEEDED to buy a car, what would it be?

reasons?

this can include a car for $5000 with $10000 of mods, or a full $15000 car, anything, just total of 15000

plz keep it practical I have to drive this to school every day

(15k USD 20.5k CAN)

Well it's gonna be incredibly biased posting this topic here.

But to be honest, I can find a '95 M3 locally for that much. Or I'd possibly go with a late model Audi A4, or Eclipse GSX

those are just my picks though

i know everyone will prolly rag on me for this one , but here it goes. #1 choice would be a 95 ///M3, #2 would prolly be a 92 stang in good condition for about $6000 and drop the rest into mods(mostly suspension since they handle like a brick) and a twin turbo.

go ahead, im spread eagle and waitin for the multiple kicks in the balls......

Obvious choice is e36 M3 here, probably what I would do.

But I would give serious though to an e30 M3 if I had some money to keep it running. Otherwise an S52 powered 6 speed e30 325i with a 5 Lug converstion (or as much of that as 15k will buy) would be perfect.

If I was feelin JDM it would be a SR20DET powered 240sx.

as for cool modded cars...240sx with an SR20DET would be a nice car to have, LS1 firebird or camaro with heads and cam package..for the money it will beat pretty much anything on the road and still gets like 20mpg (6-speed). Turbo MR2 and mod the shit out of it. 1g AWD eclipse and mod it to like 400hp. Audi A4 with some mods owuld be a really economical choice. 15k give you a hell of alot of options

Uh oh.

I think a lot of us overlooked that he's talking about $15,000 CDN.

That's something like.. $11,000 american. Well for that much it would take some real scouting for a decent E36 M3.

I think a lot of us are pushing the price to the very edge on performance cars. I see that you're using this for driving to school, so I'm gonna be real with you. You're a member of this board so I'm going to assume you like BMW's. I think my best suggestion to you would be to get a real nice used 318i to drive. Get one that's real clean and add a few taseful mods with your extra money (maybe some wheels, lowering springs, clear corners, angel eyes, tint, etc.) See the nice thing is that although it's a 318, it's still a BMW and in high school that's enough to impress a lot of people and at the same time you will have the economy and reliability of the 4cyl while holding with great looks and nice luxury.

That's my honest suggestion to you, although you have many many options out there (Hondas, etc) but I don't know you well enough to know what your taste is.

In any case, good luck in your search. Let us know what you decide on.
