How sad. I see a lot of them running around in my area. Hopefully this wont cause other car manufacturers to do the same thing.

Damn. Mitsu has to find something better to do than tracking their customers activity in SCCA events.

My girlfriend had an eclipse gs a while ago and we put an intake and suspension on it cause she drove it hard as hell. She went to the dealer for a scheduled servicing and the service shyte head had to talk to his manager if they could do the service on a modded car. The service manager was trying to tell me a few reasons why i shouldn't mod the car due to warranty issues and what not, I said and quote, "If her car doesn't get serviced today I'll have a chat with the attorney general and we'll see who gets served."
They serviced the car and never said a word again to us.

What an assanine way to attempt to recoup some losses from offering a 10 year/100,000 mi warranty. Sounds like a large-scale cop-out to me.

Why is Mitsu bothering to put out a car that is meant to be pushed? If this is how they are going to treat buyers who use the car for what it was MEANT for (i.e. tracking, auto x, etc.) then they should just start putting out little 4 cylinder econo boxes and stay the hell away from the performance market.

The car isnt meant to be modded. If you took a BMW with upgrade work to a BMW dealer they would deny your warranty claim. You dont know how many rice boy evo owners beat the hell out of their cars then end up at the dealership wondering what went wrong. Anyways buy the Evo MR its up there with the 360 Modeno and other exotics.

There is a difference between modding a car and just say "dude, lets like turn up the boast, man." An enhusiasts car is meant to be modded, there are certain things that a driving enthusiast doesnt want in his car, some even take the whole intrior out.

Japanese cars have always been meant to be modded, they all have about the same horsepower stock, yet have huge potential. Its almost like the cars been artifically made slower to fool the insurence company.

People who buy high performance cars drive them hard, a sports car is meant to be driven HARD at a track, lap after lap. If they cant stand the heat of building a high performance car they should stick to econo boxes.

In todays market making a worthy sports car is hard, the EVO is a sick car, I drove my friends one time and I it was by far the highest performing car I've driven. They just skimped where its easiest to do so and few people will notice until they have bought the car, that shows how comitied they are to the sports car fan. For that reason I wouldnt buy an EVO because they dont stand by the excellent product they have offered.

On an Evo once you do any little mod to it the whole car changes. For example an AFC changes the air fuel ratio....the car is tuned to be a certain way. I hate people who mod their cars and when it breaks they take it to the dealership trying to get a warranty claim. DONT START MODDING if you cant afford repairs. An exhuast affects the Evo. The car was meant to be the way its stock.

um, the original poster on the Evo board had his warranty denied because of autocross, not modding. *slight* difference....

Thats true, like I said you cant just do random stuff and hope it works, then bring your blown engine to the dealer and ask for a new one.

A stock evo runs very rich, its tuned that way to make sure idiots dont blow the thing with thier boast controllers. An exhaust affects the Evo but there is no way anything should break if I get an exaust, Evo makes no noise stock, if I like my car louder your telling me I'm out of luck. Thats not my idea of an enthusiast car.

The car was made to be modded, look at the cars extreemly gay promotion in 2F2F. It should be built to take abuse.

If a company cant stand behind me as a consumer than I will refuse to buy a product from them, my friend who bought the Evo had one of the worst buying experinces ever, the dealer lied more than once about everything. Then they wonder why they are going out of business.

edit: refusing warrenty because of AutoX is about the dumbest thing I've ever, ever heard from a car company. I read on a forum that they go through SCCA lists to find autoXsers. So let me get this straight, they made a high powered, high teck sports car for me to pick up grocceries in. Give me a break, I will never agian buy anything build by that company, I hope they go out of business.
