I don't know the exact specs off the top of my head but i think its got a celica motor in it.Don't let that throw you off though, this car weighs next to nothing, highly regarded as one of the best handling cars available by many people and still hits 60 in the 4.5-5.0 second range if i remember correctly.This car is no joke.

The Elise is a bad ass lil car. I sat in a prototype they had going aroudn the dealerships back in August. It seemed like a go cart with a body wrapped around it. The driving position was great and the seat travel was amazing for such a lil car. The seat sits pretty much on the floor litteraly your legs are streched out to the clutch, gas and brake. If I had the money for a fun track car this would be it. Thats all it really can be used for since there is no storage

And yes with a curb weight probably under 2k lbs and over 200 hp The thing is going to fly. Just wait till the aftermarket people provide FI or some other NA tuning kits for it.

haha holy shit....this car sounds so bad ass now...I never thought about how much it weighed. How much would one of these cost? The stearing wheel is going to be on the "right" side wont it?

the thing has a celica GTS engine, and weighing only 2k lbs it will be 12's in the 1/4 stock


i hope they import many of them, lotus can make lots of money if they do.. plus i would like to see em everyday

that beat a the Porsche GT3 on Top gear, saw it on sunday.

its got near enough slick tyres, and still beat it around the track.....on a slight wet track too!!!

Approximately 1980lbs, 190HP from the Toyota 2ZZ-GE specially tuned by Lotus, it definitely will bring Lotus back to the forefront here in the States.

Automobile just did a test of 9 cars that are great for the track and the Elise was one of THE quickest and fastest.

It's all about power-to-weight.

Let's see, under 2000lb and 190HP. This thing has the power to weight ratio of a E39 M5 which itself is a 13 sec car. So the answer is yes, it is fast.
