| Should I buy a German Spec M3? Greatings DTM Power. I like almost all of you am a BMW fanatic and believe it's the only way to roll up and down the streets. I have been given the oportunity to spend a year in Germany next year, the oportunity of a life time. While there I will have the potential of obtaining a job and saving some money. My question for all of you is this. Is it worth buying a german spec e36 M3 while I'm there. I've looked at several German websites, as I do speak german, and have found many for sale in the area where I will be living. Being that the engine itself puts out 320 horsepower instead of a measily 240 is amazing, but not only that it comes with a 6-speed transmission not a 5-speed. Obviously this would be any entusiasts dream. What I'm concerned about is the freight back to the USA, and what modifications would have to be done to the car to make it street legal in the USA. If anyone has any information regaurding this, or how much it costs to ship a car from Dusseldorf, German to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania I would greatly apprecaite it. I can be reached via email or pm. Please everyone let me know what you think, and if you can answer my questions even better.

| you do realize that making this car DOT legal will be about $15k? theres an article in a past issue of the roundel about making euro cars DOT legal. This one guy had brought an E34 M5 into the US and had to get it federalized. After everything was said and done it was $15k+. But if you have the money go for it. |

| I think after looking further into prices and that sort of thing am just going to look into buying an 3.2 liter 320hp engine with the 6-speed manual . as a package they can be gotten for under 7,000 euro. That's a lot of money to begin with then the price of shipping it back and having it dropped into my 325is. I'd like to in the mean time maybe find an m3 that's been stripped of it's engine and transmission but something tells me that's going to be hard to find around Pennsylvania.
