Custom XM radio installation

I posted this under the E36 section, but for the instal spot i need more opinions so,

"Hey, i decided to go with a custom XM commander installed in my car. I just need somone who knows the E36 M3 real well inside (somone who installs stereos etc...) If anyone in Maryland wants to help me it it would be nice. I pretty much think I can do it myself, just need help runnign the wires which I doubt I can do. What I need is to run a power wire from anywhere and a wire or two from the trunk (where the system is installed) to the unit which I plan on having custom fitted into the front ashtray facing me or in the spot under the OBC (both places can have the wires routed to same place since from one to the other is easy. Anyway PM me or something if you can help out or know anybody that can.
Im thinking the ashtray will be kind of hard b/c i will have to have it cut 1 inch in lengh longer so the system will drop in easy. Right now the unit fits PERFECTLY in hight but its about 1" to long. Then its only 3/4 an inch deep so no worries. The dimensions of it are: 4-6/7" x 1-3/4" x 3/4". If anyone has better ideas for spots to intall tell me."

Mine fit perfectly in the ashtray, Had to trim the supplied mounting plate down with a dremel and sealed with black silicone. This is in an e46 so your ashtray may be a bit different, BTW the actual ashtray insert was removed prior to install... yes the cover still closes

which XM unit are you installing?

same as his, the XM commander. On my E36 ashtray, its 1" too long (i think). so Ill have to remove the center unit and grind off some of it i guess.
