OMFG $1300 gtf out of here. That is way overpriced. I would get a break down on that. I was quoted $275 from a very popular (some call him the best BMW motor builder in the Race seen) and awsome mechanic, and the highest price quote I got was $450.

Curry's prices are high, but around the VA area it is very hard to find people that do good work and stand by it 100%. If you got the money, Curry's is the place to go to simply because you don't have to deal with headaches later on down the road. Ask me how I know? because I've been to a lot of shops around here, sometimes when you try to save money, you end up dealing with so much more headache that at the end of the day is not worth it. I've got a lot of work done by curry's and never had a problem.

I too can vouch for Currys as well, i just recently spoke with Chris Coulter from the Chantilly shop for some work and altho i was getting a bunch of stuff done and added to my car, i can safely say that if i had any problems that they would stand behind their work and do whatever they need to do to remedy any problem. Just like the saying goes, you pay for what you get.

http://www.zdmak.com/wbstore/main.as...AT=BMW%20TOOLS The tools equal up to $500 and over .. . . . Cam's need to be timed just right. You can't just drop them in...so shops are going to charge you the same price of a Hollywood hooker. ![]()

| If you think $500 for some tools to align cams is alot. You definitly haven't priced shop equipment. That's a drop in the bucket. Installing cams comes from that it's a PITA job with lots of warranty stuff. They can screw up your engine big time if it's done wrong. (not saying that it will be but if the guy whos doing the job makes a mistake, we all do, it becomes a headache) It is going to take one shop guy all day to do. Now if they do this and you have any rattle, tick, tap that comes from your valve train within the next like 2-3 months.. you're gonna think there was an installtion issue and want them to look at it regardless if it has anything to do with your cams or not. It's alot of headache to take your $1300 and use it to pay employees, tools, lights, electric, rent, payroll. It costs that much just to stay in business hence why places can charge $125 an hour to work because by the time they get done buying the tooling, computers, clean workshop, enviromental disposal stuff and highering a clean cut nice guy who knows what he's doing. It probably costs $85 an hour for them to do that job. Want clean shop and good service be willing to pay. If you get your friend to do it for $300 you don't get a warranty or a guarentee that it is done right. Plus ur friend is gonna need that tool..
