Spacer Guru's Need Help! CMT...?? for u.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks to CMT's help with RimPro I had my car get transformed with the 18" M Parallel replicas last summer. There was one problem and that was the wheel would rub up against the brake caliper. He advised me that it would go away and just need to shave some of the surroundings off. (You can see the shavings in the pic below) Sure enough, the noise went away and stopped rubbing up against the caliper.

Just recently I replaced my rotors along with getting new pads. Sure enough though the noise came back with the rubbing. Everyone told me to get the H&R 5mm Spacers the first time it was doing this but I didn't. I just got them in the mail today and now I have a problem. The wheel won't fit (stay on) with the spacer.

Here is a picture of what it looks like without the spacer and the wheel fits on perfectly.


And here is what it looks like with the spacer.


Now when I go to put the wheel on, it keeps sliding off b/c there is not enough space. Here is a picture of the inside of the wheel to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. (You'll see the shavings here)



Now you can see how it wouldn't fit. Any ideas as to what I should do?

Here's another pic just for everyone's amusement. Again, any help/sugguestions would be appreciated.

Use the thin metal/gray plastic tool in your trunk kit. The plastic part goes in the hub and the metal rod acts as a guide to line up the wheels and the holes. Keep in mind that you need longer bolts when you use spacers.

You're other alternative would be to do a stud conversion.

Yeah I got the 35mm bolts to go along with the spacers. I just wasn't comfortable tightening the bolts when the wheel wasn't even mounted to the hub, it kept falling off.

your concern should be that the hub protrudes enough into the center bore.
a quick grinding will fix the caliper fins which is an even easier fix
