Which M3?

I got a little problem....Im poor. I seriously doubt i will be able to afford a new M3. What i do know is i will be able to afford atleast a 2000 M3. I have money to pay for one but i still want to be able to do mods to it and i don't wanna have the car for years before i can buy mods for it. So hopefully i can find a good deal on a used one. So what im asking is if you people can give me some information on how much a used M3 (newer) one would go for and what you think my best choice would be. Im looking towards a 2002-2003 if possible.

Last I checked, there wasnt a 2000 M3. Do you mean that you can purchase an E36 (95-99) M3 with mods, or barely be able to buy an used E46 (01-Present) M3? Please clarify.

ok....sorry for the mix up. I want an e46, i need the speed haha. I know im able to afford it i just don't want to spend too much money.

i never said i have a problem with paying for it.....i was just saying i would rather pay 40k for something that is still new with some miles on it. Money isint that big of an issue, ill be able to buy whatever i need for the car.

c'mon people help me out.....i don't think i would be happy with an E36 M3 (speed), thats why im leaning towards the E46 M3.

e46 m3s are not very tunable.

You want speed? Get an e36 m3 with 3.2L OBD1 and turbo that puppy.

With the same price, you can smoke almost any e46 m3

get an E36 M3 and put an AA turbo in it that would beat an E46.
