Freak Bike Accident, What to do with money

yesterday fellow DTM member Spoon and I were headed to a meet, and when i was about to turn into the parking lot, a lady parked a few feet from me on the road, opened her door in front of a bike rider (those crazy speed cycler guys) goign 35+ mph, he hit her door and launched over it and him and his bike landed into my car. ambulences, fire trucks, cops, the whole woop-do came, and i was left with some dents in the car. the cop said the lady insurance would pay for it all, and i just needed to get an estamate. well, i'm thinking of going to a very high priced place or two and getting some quotes. but can i take that money and put it towards a wide body kit? and if so... are any of the w/b kits replacement panels for the quart panel that i have all mashed up? Dammage done was on all on the rear panel, next to the trunk, above fender, on fender, to the side of the fender, and above the rear window.






is it even possible for me to be able to get a widebody with the amount of money from the damages? my friends said yes, but im skeptical

I say go for it while you have some money going for you, those repairs wont be cheap for sure..stupid lady

And when i went to the lady to get her info, and stuff, she said "Whya re you hassaling me kid! I didn't hit yoru car, it was HIS BIKE! I wil give you nothing." Moments later i talked to the officier whom which gave me all her info first time i actually felt like a cop was on my side.

you can sure do that...insurance money is owed you but doesn't have to be spent on what it was intended for...buddy of mine had an explorer and they have two vertical pieces on the front bumper...well he rear ended this old woman in a vette and it left two marks on the rear of the vette on either side of the license plate...his insurance compnay paid her like 3 grand or something to replace the rear bumper...well about a year later we're driving around and guess what we see...same vette not fixed...lol...guess I'd do the same thing.

How do i go about doing this...get a HUGE estamte from some expensive place, then tell her insurance about it... don't they need proof i spent that much on the car to repair the body? Can anyone explain how this all works?

Where online can i get the Esquiss widebody kit or Rieger widebody kit. i live in the states, WA to be exact

NY has no-fault insurance so there might be differences in some places, but here's how it works for me.

my friend's winter beater civic hatch got hit by an explorer on the side. the damage wasnt that bad, (those civics all have rust there anyway), but the estimate was an outrageous $927. That estimate was given by a local body shop. When the insurance adjuster from the explorer's company came to look at the car, he estimated $750. Thats when my friend pulled out the body shop estimate and they insurance company had to accept it. (if it was more, he obviously wouldnt have). A few weeks later, my friend receives a check for $927. He never did fix the damage, and simply pocketed the money for mods on his summer car.

If the lady's insurance company will flat out accept an estimate as gospel and give u the money (without the insurance looking at the damage), then send them the bill just like that. Problem is, you're going to want to fix your damage, so that money will mostly be used up by the time ur done. Unless of course you can find a widebody or aftermarket body parts to replace them.

Either way, you'll make out fine from ur accident, but u cant really decide what to do until u get an estimate. Goodluck.

thanks J Clark, well, i'll go get an estimate tomorrow, and does anyone know where i can get W/B kits in the states. or any websites i can buy from that work. i tried searching dtm and google. looking for an equiss, rieger, or gt kit. thanks

All you have to do is call up some BMW dealerships and find out if they do auto body repairs. If they do take it there to get an estimate, if they don't, ask them to give you the # of a body shop that they use. Get the estimate and show it to the insurance co. and just wait for the check.

wil the BMW dealership charger a lot of money for the repair, or use a very expensive place. cuz that's waht im lookign for, so i get more money outa it.

get over the brows, they will be comming off if i get this WB kit, cuz they are siliconed to stonegard attached to the headlights, and the stone gard is comign off in one corner due to the eyelids (lower)

you can just use the money for a widebody kit that replaces the fenders, like Esquiss, NOT Rieger
