| Test Driving Vehicles Has anyone here been successful in test driving a vehicle when 17-21 yrs old? I think driving my 911 to the dealer may help. Cars I want to test drive for the hell of it (not in the market for a new car): 1. Mazda RX8 (Service manager drives a '69 911) 2. Honda S2000 3. MB AMG (Any AMG) 4. E46 BMW M3 5. Porsche 996 (Any variant) 6. Subaru WRX 7. Mits EVO 8. BMW Z4 (Any engine size) Any interesting stories of a young person attempting to test drive?

| I don't know if anyone else thinks it's cool but a friend and I drove into a VW dealership (I drive a 20th. Anniversary GTI) and I was able to test drive the new R32 even though they said they only want "serious" people testing them. I just told the guy as a GTI driver I wanted to compare the two cars. btw, i'm 18 and look like I'm about 12... As for your list...I can't see you being allowed to drive any MB, BMW M3, or 996...unless maybe you bring your dad and get him to bullshit with you lol...pretend your very very spoiled. |

| My friend and i were bored a few months, so we dressed up in suits and hit up a porsche dealersip (He is 19, and i'm 18). Normally he drives a lexus lx470, but it was getting a system installed, so we borrowed his cousins 92 aerostar minivan. We parked it in the back, and went into the dealership. We were talking with the guy, asking "If i give you a bank check today, will i be able to pick the car up today aswell?" the salesman was all giddy, thinking he would have a sale. I told my friend "You know, if we buy this porsche, the ferarri will have to go in the driveway." The salesperson knew for sure that he was going to make the sale. After test driving the car, we told them that if we call them within 3 hours, that means we are buying the car, and coming back with the money. He followed us out, and saw us pull away with a beat up old 92 aerostar. I wish i coulda have taken a picture of his face once he saw us in the minivan. And no, we never intended to buy the car, we were just bored ![]()

| you can't test drive an EVO...each dealer gets one maybe two...and every dealership i have been to has not allowed them to be test driven...but if you can pull it off great...if you pull up in a 996 alone you should be able to test drive most of the others..except maybe the porsche i don't know of a porsche dealership that allows you to test drive...everyone i've talked to has said "their name speaks for itself" and I was rollin up in a Benz. The only thing that might hamper you is that some dealerships require you to be 21 to officially test drive the car...the VW dealership around me let me test drive the car (20th anniv. GTI) but I had to go on some back roads behind the dealership i couldn't do an official test drive.

| I love testing out cars, with a future purchase in mind of course. So far I test drove 4 911's Carrera's('99-'03), an E46 M3, a couple M Roadsters(including the one I'm driving now), an Audi TT, and just recently an AMG SLK32. Wish I had one of each, but I really love them all. Each car has something about it that I like. |

| my friend(who was 18 at the time) went along with this dad when his dad was looking a buying a new 360 spider, after his dad test drove the car, the salesman actually let my friend take it for a short ride, even though he said he probably only went a mile or two, thats pretty damn cool

| I'm 21 now, but the past two summers, I have gone with my Father to test drive cars we were interested in. And it seemed the salespeople didn't have a problem with me driving it part of the time. Because of the older presence, I have tested an E46 M3 cab, 2 or 3 E36 M3 coupes and cabs, and a 996 coupe. If I went now to the dealership, they would still probably be reluctant to hand over the keys to a new M3 for a drive.

| test driving cars is my weekend hobby. i've done it countless times every weekend for a long time. all you have to do, is be well mannered, polite, and dress up nice. give them the impression u have the money, or at least daddy does. if they think they can sell it to ya, they wont have a prob letting u drive it. my recent drives: rx8, evo, wrx sti, z4, audi s4. i might go check out the srt4 soon. i doubt i'll have to be polite or wellmannered at a dodge dealership tho
