| How undetectable is the Valentine 1? I'm headed through VA this weekend and I refuse to drive through an entire state without the V1.. which brings me to my question... Is there any way that a cop in VA can tell if I have one?? I'll prolly hide it under my inspection.. but I really dont want this thing taken away! thanks in advance.. |

| oh ya... and what happens if you do get caught? do they take it or just give you a ticket? |

| I drove through D.C. and VA... no problems ... did catch a few cops trying to catch someone... I think they can take the detector... not sure if it comes with a ticket though. |

| I did some research and found a site that said this... Using a radar detector in Virginia in severity of offense ranks slightly below murder and rape. The only progress made in this area legislatively is that now if you are caught with a radar detector the VSP or local cop types cannot keep your detector and later destroy it. They write down the serial number and return to you, but you must physically place it in the vehicle where you cannot access it, at least until the cop leaves. The fine including court costs is about $75. I just gotta find out if thats true now.. I also found out that scanners are allowed.... odd. |

| I know on the escort S2, it has something called the VG2, which is a radar detector detector, and if it detects a radar dectector detector, it will shut off for 10 seconds, then coming on for a short period 1/2 second to see if the detector is still there, and it does this until the detector is out of range, I don't know if the V1 has this feature

| ya I read about the V1 having no prob with the vg2 detectors... what I'm worried about is this.. taken from the v1 site.. "Recently, we've been hearing of another radar-detector detector, the Spectre RDD. Used first in Canada, enforcers of detector bans in Virginia and Washington, DC, and the nationwide ban in heavy trucks, surely have this tool on their must-have list. It claims to have been designed specifically "to detect the latest state of the art stealth-type radar warning receivers." Does it find V1? Very likely, according to reports we've been hearing from a few V1 users. One participant in an internet chat room, who claimed to be a Canadian enforcer, said "I've snagged a Valentine 1 already." We've been unable to acquire a Spectre RDD for testing. Until we can do so, be advised that no super-heterodyne receiver is perfectly undetectable, and that includes V1. " |

| or do like i do and have an ancient radar detector with you... and if a cop comes after you throw the good detector in the glove compartment and put the POS old as hell brick type one on the dash ![]() cop pulled me over and laughed at the radar detector i was using (old brick type) and said he got such a low reading he thought i had a stealth one... he didnt even take the detector or give me a ticked or any shit... he just laughed his ass off at me thinking that the old detector would detect anything at all
