Smile Probably my first car... a Porsche

Hi guys!

I am seeing for a 87' Porsche 944. It has got 100'000 miles. The motor is a 4 cylinders (in line) and it developpes 163HP.

0-60 in about 8 seconds. Max speed: 140 mph.

The guy who sell this car tell me: If you will buy it, the price is about 3K...

And I find that it is in a very good shape!!!

Tell me your opinion. Thanks. Ludo

944

Its a nice Porsche to start out with, just make sure the gearbox is in good condition, those things are prone to suddenly "go". Also make sure the exaust has no rusty patches or any holes. The exausts also tend to let go pretty easily. Other wise, its a nice looking car. Hope the insurance isn;t too high for you seeing as its going to be your first car.

Yes, I have tested it!!! I find it very nice. But the interior is very small...

The noise of the motor is bad if I compare it whit the 528I Touring I drive actually (my mom's car). But I like this 944!!!

944's are great cars. You may want to drive a turbo since upgrading later is a waste of time. Goto www.rennlist.com if you want to ask some guys who really know 944's opinions.

It looks good from the pics. I would suggest doing some research on the car so you know what you're getting into. I'm not sure which model that is...if its the basic 944, it actually develops about 158BHP, and gets to 60 in around 8 seconds. If its an "S", it produces around 190bhp, and gets to 60 in the high 6's. The turbo version (AKA 951) made anywhere from 220-250bhp, and gets to 60 in around 5.6 seconds. You're gonna pay a lot more for a turbo if you want it in decent shape. Check out the 924 as well, slightly smaller car, but it also came in a turbo version, and gave the same kind of performance.

Are you sure they are actually "Euro Spec"? Or is it simply a horsepower rating difference?

Umm, not sure I understand you. I just asked if there were actual differences between the European/American models of the car or if it was just a difference in the standards of gauging hp...
