A Man's BMW?

So I was watching Top Gear today and came across one of the guys on the show talking about the only "Man's Car" he's driven, a Triumph TR6.

This was, of course, defined by the fact that no woman has even been seen driving a TR6. Add that it's British and a real classis. Yeah, that's a "Man's Car".

So, in these days with Z3s, X5s, etc how can we drive a BMW and still drive by someone and they go, "Now THAT'S A MAN'S CAR!"

Some of the E36s (like Dado's for example) is pure testosterone. Granted, you see a lot of female's in E36s, but the stance of the car, the wheels, the front end, just makes you want to grunt. Jon Sibal's car is similar (with it's GTR-esque front and widebody).

So, what makes a "MAN'S" BMW?

I'll start out by saying: It has to be black...

Anyone have any other ideas?

Needs to at least have the bmw straight six. Nothing girly about that!

5. Sound Nasty

I'm gonna have to say the manliest BMW ever designed is the E34 M5, with black on black and a nice manual tranny to seal the deal. Have you ever seen a girl driving one of those bad boys? I haven't. And I agree with Rob too.

i'd actually say the first gen (s52) M-coupe, since its the (supposedly) trickiest bmw to drive hard...

I gotta agree with Kompressor. The E34 M5 has a very throaty and identifiable engine sound, and at WOT, it is much louder than the E39. Drive or ride in one sometime if you get the chance. It is comparable to my first ride in a 911. (not as awesome, but still pretty awesome) Although, my first ride in the E39 M5 was probably the most exciting non-track non-Germany time in a car.

Why not the S54-powered M Coupe? And there's a girl on here who has an S52 M Coupe (tracks it often also )
