Budget Conscious Entertainment

I love driving, as I'm sure that every member on this site can relate. It really has come time to get rid of this terrible ford escort station wagon, as I’m sure that you can understand that it leaves a lot to be desired.

Being budget conscious (paying for school), I'm looking for a car to fill the void that the ford leaves without leaving myself hopelessly in debt.

I had in mind perhaps a late 80's gti or even a 325is if I could find one not beaten into the ground. I would appreciate some guidance to this. I'm sure that someone has been in this position before. I’m not one that cares about looks, and I seek the most performance for the dollar.

e30 (late 80s) 325is, is that really the car for the budget conscious buyer? If it were me, I would opt for the gti, or perhaps a crx. you could find yourself neck high in bills with an older bmw. but thats just my opinion.

I Used to have an 88 325is with 135000 miles when i sold it. See photo gallery. I owned it from 99,000 miles until 135k. During that time the only problem i had was replacing a thermostat. If you take care of the car and change all the fluids regularly then you won't have that many problems. Also, the old 325's are by far some of the most fun cars to drive EVER!!! except old M3's, which own ALL.

well it depends on how much of your own work you do. If you're paying someone to do everything down to oil changes and you're on a budget, better get a honda and leave that shit alone. but if you dont mind getting dirty, the e30 is not bad at all, and the performance is better than the vw
