| March 6-7 Summit Point review with pictures A very stressful couple of days before the event and several problems that almost caused us to miss the event. First of all Sunir's lightweight didn't get done, so, one of the cars in the team was out. While preparing the other two cars the night before the event (big mistake) the oil filter housing cracked. We tried to get another one in time, so we ran to the nearest bmw dealership to get one. With our "luck" the part that I needed was not in stock and there were only 8 available in the world and of course, they are all in Germany, the options I had were 3-5 weeks on boat or 3-5 days by plane which meant I wasn't running the oil cooler this weekend. We took the cracked oil filter housing out and installed the stock oil filter housing. Now we get to work on the M coupe oil cooler kit. Once again more problems. After installing the oil cooler kit, oil starts pouring out from under the car, this required us to take it apart again. We came to the conclusion ther one of the fittings was oval instead of round. This took 10 quarts of oil on the driveway to discover. Not a good week for oil coolers. We were able to fix the problem and use the last of the oil in the garage to fill the car. The good news was that my diff from www.diffsonline.com came in very quickly and pro imports installed it just in time for the event. I really can't thank enough Dan from www.diffsonline.com for building me a diff as fast as he did, just so I could make it to this event. I got it in 3 days thanks to Dan scrambling for parts to get it to me. The new diff is a 2.93 with 60% lockup, it feels much better then my previous diff from blanton transmissions. DiffsOnline prices are more then competitive. While my other diff didn't even hold up for one event. The diff from DiffsOnline didn't have one problem, there were no signs of leaks, unlike the diff from blanton. The hood from MA Shaw came in Friday afternoon and it was a perfect fit. Very impressive and it will definitely help cool down the engine with those huge openings. We have yet to install the louvers but with all the trouble we were having with the oil coolers. This was the least of our worries. A simpe mesh would handle the cooling needs for now. We got the cars ready Saturday morning at 5am and we were off to the track with no sleep at 6am. My brakes had been seriously grooved from VIR and I was having some major problems with them. This required our techs to change the fluid often, almost every session, so it's time to get some new rotors. Other then that my car had no problems. The M Coupe ran great with no problems at all. It was nice having a chance to meet everyone and thanks for the ones that made this weekend happen especially diffsonline, pro imports, our tech's John and Carlos (took the pics too), David, Mark, and everyone else that helped us at the track. Well my lip is gone from loosing my brakes going down the chute, so it's time to call www.mmstuning.com for another lip ![]() The Car Guys event was very well organized and the track time was around 2 hours a day. Thanks to the Car Guys crew for making it a safe and fun event. While we are here testing the East Coast team, our 4th car in the team driven by James Sofronas in the West Coast is 1st place in BMW Car Club Racing For more info on the 4th car click on the following link. | the lip cracked on the corner and it's an easy fix, it popped right out and I ran over it. I was probably going about 5-10 miles when I went off the track. That was the only damage. lol washing the car, it's a pain in the ass most of the stuff on the paint doesn't come off. |

| actually Matt said he heard a "tinging" sound from the back and wanted to make sure the bolts were still tight after I fixed everything. Didnt want to Matt to have another off road experience like I did. Last edited by m3ltw98 : 03-09-2004 at 08:03 PM. |
