| dealership's chaging stories on me now...this shit is getting really really obvious that theyre trying to **** me. i mean...com'on a whole new engine when i only need to replace the piston and valves on cylinder2. also, it seems they can't provide me with the over rev data because a rep from bmw that is sent out can do so....yea, sure.

| Well the dealer my dad got his 330Ci wouldnt activate the rear side airbags for "liability reasons" so he had to take it to another dealer, because from the factory they arent activated.

| I did not read the whole thread so forgive me if someone has already said this. By law the dealership has to prove that you abused the engine, if they can not prove it then they don't have a case. Instead they will try their best to make you think the problem is yours and that you have to pay to fix it. That way they are not out of pocket. (Most repairs are fixed and to take a warranty item like this they may not make any money on it.) If you have not already done so I suggest you talk to a lawyer, You can rest assured they already have. |

| of course they have rev limiters, but if you can do 60mph in second gear, but shift to second at 120mph and dump the clutch its obviously going to go past revlimiter think about it the most expensive car in the world isnt designed to withstand shit like that Quote:

| bmw did have issues with there M3 motors a while back from contamination at the factory and they tried to blame the customers with over revving but they had to eat it when smg's cars came in with the same problem. Bmw is like any other company in the world if they don't have to pay for it they won't and if they have to lie about it not being there fault they will. |

| why are bmw's good cars engine problems poor dealership service expensive repairs ??????????????????????? they are soild cars though.....there very well BUILT cars just not very mechanically built

| ............. i disagree mechanically built poorly in what way? poor as in excellent transmission syncronization that allows overrev shifts? try throwing a T5 mustang into first at 80mph, youll have to use a foot do to it. better yet, you drive a WRX? i KNOW it doesnt shift as smoothly as a bmw trans. not trashing your car at ALL.. just making a point. if you overved ANY engine, it will break. ford, subaru, honda, bmw, ferrari, etc. ALL of them have redlines for reasons right? bmws E46 m3 engine had problems, but they fixed it. extended the warranty, etc. Its quite an experiance to drive an E46 m3. If you havent you should. you wont be disapointed. there isnt another engine like it another fact is, its a race inspired engine. The first TRUE race motor theyve imported to this country. They didnt import the euro E36 motors for a reason. People just expect to buy cars here in america and drive them till they run out of oil 40k miles later. 50%+ of M3 customers dont understand what they have under the hood other than that, in the early 90s the v8s had some problems. but what about the M50 inline 6s? Theyre pretty much bullet proof. in 5 years for working for bmw weve NEVER done a inline 6 M50/M52/S50/S52/M52tu/M54 engine unless it was OVERREVED. that should give bmw some props. the point is. if you overrev engines, they will break Quote:
