S2000 vs. E36

Well I am in the process of finding a new car and I started looking at convertibles since I am new to Florida and would like to take advantage of being a Floridian. This will be replacing my 3rd A4 Avant.

So far I checked out an Audi TT 225 and a Honda S2000. After trying these two out I really, really liked the S2k for being a purebred sports car, not a lot of frills but damn that thing can rip it up. The TT was really nice a lot more luxurious but I didn't have that true sports car fast feeling to it. Now still on my list to consider are..
E36 M3
Mini Cooper S
GTI 20th AE
A4 1.8t
E46 325Ci/328Ci

Now I think that since I am now in an area where rear wheel drive doesn't matter I should take advantage of that and not go for the FWD or AWD drive trains. I am defiantly going to put some mods on whatever car I get, so these will not stay stock. I really would like an M3 but the thing that stops me is the fact that it would be a 97-99 most likely with 50k miles or something when I could go with an S2K and get a 03 w/ less than 10k miles or something. That is really attractive to me I am just concerned I may get sick of the high revving 2.0 liter. Just looking for other DTM opinions.

if its a car you will drive every day go with the M3, i accualy have a friend that has both a 96 M3 and a 02 S2k, he says he loves driving the honda, but the high strung engine makes it hard for a daily driver. thats what iv heard from him, and thats the conclution iv reached on my own also, but my god is the S2K fun to drive.

S2k is fun, but not for a daily driver. It's very small and doesnt have much useable torque. Id prefer a BMW with double the mileage a Honda has...it's still a better car for the duration you own it.

Vitolo has it right- the S2000 isn't much of a daily driver, but a good weekend/fun car. No torque man, no torque.
And of all the cars listed, the E36 M3 and S2K are my favorites. Have you driven both? If not, drive them and decide for yourself.
PS- If you're looking at getting an OBD=II E36 M3 within a few days, get Zubin's: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6131

No way I would ever go domestic. Yeah I was concerned about the S2K as a daily driver with the lack of torque, I did test drive one on a rainy day it so I was going really slow and it seemed okay, but then again I wasn't looking to get it going and lose the rear wheels. I gotta go back and try it out on a nice day. Yeah I love E36M3's that would be a car I would really love to get but I am just not sure I want an older car for a daily driver, I want a really reliable car without a whole lot of expensive maintince.

But all and all I definatly want to get a sports car thats going to rip up the road when I want to. Oh yeah and I have been dreaming of having a 6-speed since I was a little kid that would be the coolest shit.

i sure as hell wouldnt mind a CTS-V. pure badass. also, if the lincoln LSV8 came in a 5/6 speed, that would be pretty damn nice too.

Whats your budget? I would look into the 350z or the G35 Coupe, two very nice cars.

if you do a search, you'll find tons e36 vs s2k threads.

drive both and decide yourself, before this turns into a 5 page flame fest.
