| So I tried a longer post but then my computer f-ed up so here is an abbreviated list: Time and place: MLK day on campus going to work Towed: Private company contracted by construction company Other cars had no designation as to who and where they belonged. Projected cost: $70 What they wanted: $200, cash only, preferably from their ATM Reason Why: " We have to use special equipment to remove carsfrom private property (I/E. A street owned by the city of Ann Arbor) Insult to Injury : High Terminal fee Pissed Off: They wanted me to pay an additional fee when I asked to see my car before paying, so that I might inspect for damage. (Perhaps I was being "extorted") More reasons to be PO'ed: Mud all over the car, and alignment pulls. I am really upset because that is a lot of money for a student to have to cough up because they changed the rules without posting some sort of notice other than bagging the meter. Ideas for Action: Is the BBB a good place to start or consult a legal representative? Nothing but love for my fellow DTMers

| True, it is hard to prove that they did anything to her since their invoice listed my car's exterior as fair, instead of its near concours condition. But I like cats. I already paid to get my car back too. As much as it pained me to pay three guys who had been sitting on their asses all day.

| Towing companies have certain guidelines that they have to follow, and all of those things they charged to you seem rediculous. Call a lawyer and make a big stink about it. And don't kill their cat.

| Call either a lawyer for a free consultation or the BBB to take them out of business. That is scalping and ILLEGAL.

| Personally I like the cat idea but its time to play hard ball. You need to put on the mean suit and get down to business. First call the owner of the property. Ask him whats up. If you think the tow company arbitrarily choose you, he probably has that right being you were in the wrong no? You need to make a plan to call the owner or manager of the company today, now, yesterday. Explain your case and how you feel you were mistreated (dirty car and alignment). Anticipate all responses so you can counter. Negotiate to your terms only. If they are not being met tell them you have already begun the necessary legal actions and give them your name and number incase their later judgment gets the best of them. |

| Did you check the mileage of the car when you got it back, they cretins may have driven the car around, like in Ferris Bueller. Oh, instead of killing the car and writing a love note, go for the double whammy and stuff the cat in the mailbox with a note tied to the cat.
