my mechanic told me to use castrol gtx because i pound the shit out of my car sometimes and its higher milage. also i wasnt sure what the previous owner used so....

Me too but after every change I hear this from the wife " Why do you have to spend $40 every 3000 miles when the bottle says right here 6 months or 7500 miles" Then I explain that is under normal driving conditions and if you don't care about your car as much as I do.

mobil 1 5w-30 year round. I'm thinking of switching to redline 10w-40 so i can get like i dunno 90 more HP outta my car

20w 50 is not the ticket for winter
that thick stuff is like for race use only or race cars(in the summer)
..i like the thin oil in the winter ...... it helps my engine start quicker

5W30 or 0W30 is better for colder weather

For the VW:
