Bimmerclub Venezuela

Hi, I just wanted to share with you all a little BMW Club that we have going here in Venezuela. www.bimmerclub.net . The site is in spanish, sorry no mirror site yet. However I wanted to share this with you to see what you all thought... There are some great BMW Examples down here, ranging from an early 1980's 745 Turbo, 316 ti's, M3 3 E36's and E46's, both Euros and US-Spec), There are E30 M3's (Evos), E21 315, and quite a few 325's, 328's, 323's... Actually there is a little of everything...

Enjoy...

Nice to see that you can actually drive a nice car down there. I was born in Caracas as well, in Baruta, Clinica Bello Monte. I have not been back in years since I cherish my life.

Thanks for the wishes caracas e_30. What do you mean when you ask if the club is for certatin people only? Ill answer to my interpretation. The club is available to any BMW enthusiast who in some way demonstrates good will, a desire to learn new things, meet new people and enjoy the activities planned for the members. We have non BMW owning members in the mailing list and sometimes we have enthusiasts participating with us in rides. Next Year we have a set of driving schools lined up for our members, and it is idea if they have a bimmer because the Community is BMW focused. Im not sure If Im explaining myself clearly. The whole idea of the club was to bring people together towards something nice and different to do. And to be a bit more far fetched with your question: No we are not an elitist group. We have many enthusiast from many walks of Venezuelan life (if I may call it that), and we are most definately not affialiated or supportive of any political party, movement or anything even remotely near. Each member has their own life, religion, and political affiliations. We only try to bring people in who are willful to enjoy their Bimmers, keeping all other factors out of the equation.

I hope I have answered your question.

I just feel bad for you guys down there with all the violence and a Castro butt buddy dictator. Just see the examples that the world has given us, has a dictator based community ever rise above to prosperity? Cuba, no, they are still in the 1920's, Russia and associated countries...only after communism got booted that they got a sign of life. Italy...still backward ass communist ruled, but they use a different name for it. Venezuela is so rich, but only a few get to steal from it. That is the sad part.

Well, the reason that only BMW drivers in Venezuela would be against Chavez is that they are probably the Spanish, or ruling class in Venezuela who control the media and helped the CIA and Television media in the anti Chavez coup last year. Here's an article about (the most-likely BMW-owning) elite class in Venezuela who would prefer a dictator to this democratically elected populist:

_____________________
VENEZUELA IN BLACK AND WHITE
Greg Palast reporting from Caracas, Venezuela
Monday, November 24, 2003

Here's Venezuela in a snapshot.

The matronly blonde in the stylish leaopard - patterned blouse doesn't like the President of this Latin state. Correction: Maria Christina Tortosa hates, despises, sees red when she speaks of President Hugo Chavez. "A co-moon-ist!" she avers in English.

Her polite interlocutor -- red t-shirt, brown skin, eyes impatiently averted -- is in a good mood. Jorge Lara has collected six thousand signatures of local voters seeking to recall members of Congress who oppose his hero Chavez.

And that's what it's all about. Race and class. Whatever else you hear about Venezuela, this is the story in a single frame. Like apartheid-riven South Africa, the whites, 20% of the population, have the nation's wealth under lock and key. The Rich Fifth have command of the oil wealth, the best jobs, the English-language lessons, the imported clothes, the vacations in Miami, the plantations.

That is, until Hugo Chavez came along.

Now the brown people, like community activist Lara -- and President Chavez himself-- have a piece of the action. "Negro y indio," Chavez calls himself. Black and Indian. And the blondes don't like it.

In the photo's background, there's a guy with a gun, a soldier with the automatic weapon.

And that's the other part of the picture in Venezuela. Our blonde, Mrs. Tortosa, is a poll-watcher for the Democratic Action Party which on Friday begins their own signature drive to recall Chavez.

If Tortosa's party fails, "it will be civil war" says one supporter of the recall against the President. Then it's up to the soldiers in the middle to keep the peace ... or choose the winner

And if you look closely, you'll see in the shadows one other character with the power over Venezuela's future... George Bush. Fresh from bringing democracy to Afghanistan and Iraq, the US strongman has quietly turned his sights southward.

Palast speaks with supporters of Hugo Chavez collecting signatures for a recall of opposition Congressmen. Photo by Greg Wilpert, co-editor of Venezuelanalysis.com.

Mr. Bush has quite a different idea of democracy than the 'Chavistas' in the red t-shirts. Elections don't necessarily figure into Bush's picture of democracy. The White House once said that Chavez' winning a crushing majority of the vote in his 2000 election did not confer "legitimacy" on Chavez' presidency. Hmmm.

The director of the CIA, George Tenet, testified to the US Congress that Venezuela "worries" him. And that should worry the Venezuelans … except, of course, the blondes who, like the US president, seem to prefer their democracy without elections.
