i have been interested in cars for literally as long as i can remember. my family tells me stories of when i was a baby sitting in front of a window for hours watching cars or of me having a permanant smile on my face during rides in their cars. car was also my first word.
because i had no single experience that i can remember that got me into cars or a time that cars never meant anything to me, im interested in how all of you got into cars. discuss..

i've always been attracted to shiny objects....i guess cars were just a natural progression of my childhood tendancies to pick up sparkley trash on the ground.

Everyone in my family loves cars. MY brother and father know so damn much about it which helped too. My father always bought German cars such as Audis and BMWs from germany and brought them back to russia when i was just a toddler. I also had a smile plastered on my face in car rides, mostly when they hit the gas and i heard that engine purring and the speedo rising.

I have absolutely no recollection of exactly when it was that I became obsessed with cars.

Perhaps it were those first Matchbox cars I received as presents as a kid. Maybe it was that TYCO racetrack my brother and I got one Christmas (how cool were those things??!! ). Or maybe it was watching Bullitt with my father or even Starsky & Hutch. Not to mention The Dukes of Hazzard and Knight Rider! Oh, and AUTOMAN!! Lame show but cool car!

Then my father opened up his own shop. Wow. Not only did he work mainly on foreign cars, his lot was big enough to have a parking lot for commuters. They'd all drive up in their Jaguars, Mercedes, BMWs, Porsches, etc. And what a kick ass job I had after school moving cars out of the way so people could get to their car! My first time driving a manual was in a Porsche 911!!

Now my life pretty much revolves around cars. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I think my friends influenced me the most. In school we would always be talking about cars and looking at car pictures. I remember sitting with my friend in his front yard just watching the cars go by for hours on end, their are always bmw's and mercedes rolling by in my area so it was cool to see. My dad was a mechanic for awhile as he made his way through college so that influenced me also, then when I was in 6th grade and he came home with his brand new 97 540 I fell in love with bmws and have loved them since.

My dad use to race a bug eye sprite from before I was born untill I was about 4 or 5 then he found a new wife and gave up racing. I still wish I could get into racing ... maybe some day! Ive allways loved cars, I think the first time I actually drove was when I was about 12 or so lol
Theres this picture I have somewhere of me when I was maybe 5 workin on the underside of my wooden wagon haha like a mechanic.
Even though I have a truck right now, its only for work and I drive it like a car lol but one day Ill trade it in for an M3...

older friends influenced it the most when i was a kid. i first became obsessed when installing mods on their cars, learning all about them. i'd go home tired from cramming my head with all the new info.

then it only got worse when i got into auto-x

Since I was little cars were allways there. Most of my family is involved with mechanics(mostly motorcycles). I had a carpet in room that had roads on it that my hot wheels would drag race on. Im also an Math/Art person so cars are perfect for me. Also the first car I regulary drove was a 800hp SupraTT at 14(thanks mark). Im hooked on speed

Never really got much into cars until i was around 14. My older brother was always the one into motorsports, infact, i remember making fun of the fact that racing wasnt a sport . I started getting into cars when i saw a bunch of BMW's fly by mom in her new cadillac, and i was like "Dude, BMW's are the shit!!!!" I remember liking only german cars after that. And yes, as luck has it my first car was a new 330ci (Thanks Dad!). I loved how the car handled, but it lacked power, so like any other BMW enthusiast, i got myself 1995 M3 turbocharged by AA.

also very much influened at high school, the guys i hung around talked for 4 years about cars every lunchtime, so naturally i learned a lot, before i started high school, i had no idea about anything, also hanging around with the same guys after high school, helped once again all we talk about is cars... oh and chicks

I grew up on a VW/Audi lot where my dad was a dealer. I got his hand-me-down 86 jetta 16v and progressed to BMW from there. I have always been into cars since before i can remember and some of my earliest memories involve making fun of hondas. hehe.

at first, when i was looking at his mods, i didn't know a damn thing that was in that list except the rim and the exaust!
and now...yeah..u get the point!

its pretty much anything with an engine with me if it can get me there quicker then walking then its my kind of thing, so yeah i like cars cuz im lazy!
