My buddy from high school is going to Wyo Tech starting this spring. From what he told me it's alot more actual race tech than any of the other schools. They teach everything needed to build a car from building a tube chassis to building high performance engines. His plans are to try and get in with a race engine builder or chassis fabricator, both make good money.

lol your gonna have to be in the top 5% of the class to be considered for that program. i actually spoke with a guy from step and he told me for every 100 canidates they get they just take 1 and there classes are small about 25-30 students. your also gonna be goign up against other people who are in bmw dealers and they will get the go be4 you because they are trying to retain there tech because of a serious shortage. he came to my college and gave a 1 1/2hr speech on the program. you have to be willing to move when they say so and your not guaranteed a job close to your house.its a nice program but its kinda like the military its not for every one. and lincoln tech is a rip off i knew a to nof kids who went there after hs and paid 16-20k for the schooling and all you get is a piece of paper saying you completed the program doesn't even say how good of a worker you are. even if you get the cheapest tution your paying 13k. im goign to college for auto in the north east and will be egtting 80% toyota factory training and a degree which i could apply to other things if my attitude changes about the industry. id reconsider my choices be4 plunking down that much $$$$$$ oh yeah to get into the step program from a college you will need a 3.5gpa or better. trust me your not gonna be the top 5% of your lincoln tech class. imo there a big rip off. im getting the same training for about 8k tools included. id look around seriously theres a whole lot out there. i also work at car shows telling people about all the schools out there besides tech schools and all of them are hell of alotcheaper.... shit in fact my school is always having toyota meetings here where there gonna release new models and you can get to meet some people high up people there. look around man you will thank me

Im attending Lincoln Tech in NE Philly for 15-16months so I can get my asscoiates degree then Im hoping to be accepted into BMW STEP program. Most important thing is ATTENDANCE!!! You have to have 98% attendance or else dont even think of applying for it. And at Lincoln Tech, if you are at the top of your class, for the last 3-5 months of your training you can work at a Dealership. Its called the "Top Gun" program. Later

I goto New England Tech in RI, going into the BMW step program, we are required to have at least a 3.0GPA and must pass 2 written tests in order to get accepted. Only the best to work on the best.

What does it take to become a BMW Certified Master Technician? Is it simply the completion of the 6 month step program? I understand there are different levels too. Does anyone know how it works?

I believe there are 8 tests or so you need to pass to become a certified BMW Master Technician. Thats what Im shooting for and work for a dealership and then open up my own race prep/fabrication shop for BMWs. Later
