2K Civic Si, Spec ?

Ok, last night I was at a party, and as I was pulling up a guy in a 2000 Civic Si, came up and did the usual Rev. Engine and then Peeled out ricey crap.. Well I didnt do anything because I had some alcohole in my blood system already, and so i parked the car, went into the party had some fun.. Then later into the night, that same guy with the Si, came up to me in the party and started talking crap.. Sayin, ohh your bimmer is a piece of shietz, bmw's suck to slow and heavy and so on.. Well the owner of the house is my buddy, so i had respect for the house and didnt start shietz.. but before he got kicked out, he challenged me to a Race on Sunday, and being kinda drunk, i took up on the challenge.. So here is the question, anyone here think I have a chance to beating this guy ? I found out the Specs. on this guys car..

He is running a 2000 Si, with Skunk Exhaust, headers and intake.. and the engine only has about 14k miles on it. (So i am guessing he hasnt broken into the engine yet).

I am going to be racing him with my, 325is, TMS CHIP, INTAKE, Custome 2.5" SIngle Pipe Exhaust all the way back to the headers, with one 2.5" High Flow Cat.

well, just need to know what I will be expecting ? I never raced a Civic, but raced a Sentra SE-R and beat it by 1 car length.. So any inputs, suggestions, opinions would be great. thanks.

a friend of mine has an si and he can only get thru third on the 1/4 so im not sure if that helps determine how its geared heh. all he has is intake headers exhaust and he runs high 14s so. Hope this helps you size up your competition a little heh.

SI's do not have 200 hp stock. I think you'll win but it really is a drivers race.

The 200 Si's have 160hp stock, and they pull like mad in the upper part of the rev range (VTEC). You should probably do ok, but I wouldn't put money on it.

i used to race a guy all the time that had a 99 with AEM cai, Toda header, no cat/bypass pipe, Greddy exhaust, weight reductions like carbon fiber hood, no spare/jack etc. He was a good driver. His car got repo'd so now he drives a late 80's cavaler..

i have a stock 94 325is automatic with just K&N filter/debaffled airbox, and some rear end lightening.

whats going to determine the race is if you have an automatic or 5spd, and if your drag racing or racing from a roll-on. stock for stock, a 5spd for 5spd, these two cars are very closely matched stock.

from a roll-on, no one pulled an inch when it was me vs him until 100mph or so, where id slowly pull a car length on him by rev limited @ 130mph.

from a dead stop, he'd put 2 car lengths on me before 60 and then i'd regain a half of one by the time we got up to 90 and let off. He'd always win the drag. We never took it from 0-130, i think i'd have a chance of pulling even @130mph in 4th while he was in 5th, but the world will never know.

main thing is, its quick off the line, and its first 3 gears are nice. its geared low, where as we are geared higher. So his 0-80 is going to be equal to that of a 325 5spd, but his 80+ is going to be slower than a 325 5spd, and the 325 would win properly shifted, imo.

If you have an auto, i'd suggest racing him from 55-115, or 75-115, as those are the only two scenarios that i could beat my friend in, but i did beatt him like that almost everytime we took it on the highway. In a drag race, the auto would lose.. know that from experience.

power-to-weight ratio is one thing, but gearing and power-under-the-curve, or how many horsepower u have from 3500-5500rpms determines ALOT .. we have alot more power from 3500-5500rpms, and at higher speed's we are geared, if we have a chip, to be able to go past 150mph quicker than a car of equal horsepower and weight, for sure.

they can be pretty quick with some weight reductions and bolt on's. the b16 takes well to bolt on's but they lack in torque

If you barely beat an SE-R, you're ****ed... The new SE-R's are slow.

The new SE-R's Spec V's aren't all that bad. Why don't you take him on the tracks. BMW's aren't made for street racing, the point ca't eb any more clear. If he wants to be a smart ass just remind him he's driving a CIVIC and you're in a BMW.

Wanna race mine?

I'm not sure how fast your car is, but i'll tell you that a stock SI is not as fast as you think. But, i'd still bet $$ on the SI.

Ya, i know BMW are made for track, road racing.. hehe, but its the same for all Jap. Cars i have raced, all they want to do is just drag, never track.. But ya, i i read up on the Si, and stock it only does about 160Hp at 7k RPM, and only does about 111lbs of torque at 7K RPM aswell.. So i figure with that Skunk Exhaust, Intake and Headers the guy has put in, his car probally has 140HP or so to the wheels? and if I am not mistaken isn't the Si FW too and now RW ? cuz if so than I mite have the advantage there aswell..

all hondas except for the s2000 and the nsx are FWD.

you have an intake, a chip, and you have a 5spd. If you know how to drag race your car, you'll smoke this guy.. trust me.. i consider Si's my arch rival in my automatic, and we all know the world of difference between a 325 stick and auto.

Ok.. this sux. i lost the race, but only due to Bad Clutch.. everything was fine, at the start i was ahead by 1/2 car length, than goin from 3rd to 4th, at about 6k RPM the clutch just slipped, so i had to put it into neutral and stop at the side.. So we did a 2nd run, well this time, it was even worse, from starting point i got into 1st, than wants it hit 5k, clutch just slipped.. so another defeat again.. Well, I should be switchin in a new M3 clutch sometime this week or next week, and will rematch him again..

Well, at the end of the day... He's still driving a civic.

He has to ask his dad to borrow his car to take his ugly girl to prom.. whereas you fill urs up with 4 women, 5 if one fits in the trunk..
