| i think there were 2 proto-type m850's .... a csi is basically an M version... that car shouldve been introduced in the 80's ... it basically missed the period of time when people couldve afforded them.... SUCH A HOT CAR .... verdict is still out on the new 6 or any new BMW design...

| From BMW Website, the ///M 850Csi : http://www.bmw.com/bmwe/pulse/bmwm/classic/content.html And here is info about the M8 prototype : http://m8.clube31.com/ |

| the deal with the 850csi is that there are about 2000 total production cars. There are only 270 in the states and it was built in the motorsports factory and carries the m badging but is not concidered an M car. The engine says M on it. It came only with a 6 speed manual. There was one car produced call the M8 which had huge scoops molded into the rear quarter panels and produced an astounding 450 hp. But there was only one and it has not been seen in over 5 years. It is locked up in a bmw safe. My dad just bought a csi and man it is the coolest thing i've ever driven. When we were buying it we were told not to buy one unless a nickle could be balanced on the engine while at idle, and sure enough the nickle balances with NO problem.
