C6 Corvette infomation. Pics & Engine info.

New C6 Corvette information:

625hp TT engine might be offered at a trim level above the Z06(which is going to have a 6.4L V8 having 500hp; base is going to have a 405hp 6.0L V8)......titled as "ZL1"....some of you might know what the refers too. Price? 90K+

Oh, and you want to see what it's going to look like?

http://www.stupidfastboats.com/vette2

Someone can link those if they want. I am pretty lazy right now.

lazy bastard

i remember reading a Road and Track article ages ago when the concept pics of the c6 were released, and it looks quite like that. i remember them saying somehting about the first corvette to have non-flip up headlights in ## years (##=alot).

as far as that engine goes, and ,

but probably because i dunno if they will release a TT vette. but it'd be badass if they did.

TT 'vette would be awesome. I doubt it will see the light of day. And no flip-up lights is just wrong. Wrong I tell you.

625 hp Twin turbo??? I'll believe it when I see it. AS for the ZL-1.

The ZL-1 goes back to the days of the Stingray (not Sting Ray, there is a difference.) Anyway the ZL-1 was a race motor that they put into 2 corvettes Along with 60 or 70 COPO Camaros)in '69. All aluminum 427 motor pumping out somewhere between 500-600 hp. It weighed 50lbs less than the 350. Making it the ultimate performer. For me the ZL-1 has to be one of the very best incarnations of the Corvette and shouldn't be exploited by Chevy, for the crap they make today, like the ZO6 was.

FOR SHAME!!!!!

Bob Lutz has implied that their will be a trim level above the Z06 and it will be able to "suck the doors off" the Viper SRT-10 (or Coupe if they make it) or the Ford GT. Hmmm, what could this supervette possibly be?

Look, I'm sure Chevy can put a huge kick ass powerful motor in the corvette. In fact I think the LS1 that they currently use still has plenty of potential. What I'm saying is that I would hate to see a Twin turbo on a stock corvette it's totally contradicting of what a corvette stands for. Plus I hate how they bring back the engine and option codes of yore to pump up sales for today. It would be different if it was something like the Ford GT. The GT has character and really follows in the foots steps of the past in look and feel. The corvette is obviously moving away from its origins and I think if thats the route they are going to take then they just need to move on completely.
Names like the ZO6 and the ZL-1 have meaning to the people who were alive during that era. They shouldn't get people's hopes up because all and all its a totally different car then what it used to be.
I'm too tired. Maybe I'll write something better tomorrow.

TT or not I will never buy an american car ever again, because you know that fit and finish will never be up to par. Comon guys, this thread isnt even worth DTM Power space. Obviously someone in the market for a bimmer wont look at a vette, for the same reason someon in the market for a vette wont even wait on a bmw.

Well I enjoyed the pics and information. The bodystyle looks pretty good IMO although similar to the Viper, I still would concider an american sports car, if i was serious about track racing a Z06 would be perfect if one can handle the torque if not a Elise would be just as good for about the same price.

American automakers are comming around and improving on quality. In the future if it came about I would possibly concider 100k dollar american car. But then again im just a 21 open minded 21 year old what do I know....

I really don't think they will label the engine zl-1. The zl1's have always been very limited production. But they are not something just from back in the day. They have been put in more recent cars. I think they make a zl1 camaro every few years. I might be alittle off on that figure though. Anyways are a few of the most recent zl1's. This is a 2000 camaro zl1. 0-60 in 2.7 seconds 770 hp@ 6900 rpm. Top speed 230 mph

This is a 2002 zl1 camaro. This one is 400hp and cost between 62,000 and $94,000

Looks like a mix of the Acura NSX and the Honda S2000..... I don't know. Looks too much like a Honda for me. I just can't take that.

Those "ZL1 Camaro"s have just been made in the last few years on the 4th Gen body style, but they aren't factory built. I can't remember the name of the company, but they have been building specialty camaros and firebirds for a while now. Plus that "ZL1" refers to the model name for that car. Much like saleen mustangs aren't really mustangs, they're S281s. The original ZL1 was nothing more than an engine code.
