Prolly gonna trade in the 240sx....for an M3

I'm wanting to trade in my 1995 240sx.....i think i can get between 12,000 and 14,000 for it. After that I'm going to take out a loan for probably 4,000. My question is how well do higher mileage M3's hold up? like 55,000 miles and above?

Most BMWs hold up well beyond 100K miles and into the 250+ milestone AS LONG AS THEY ARE MAINTAINED PROPERLY.

And no offense but 12-14K for a 1995 240SX? Market price for a pristine stock 240SX coupe with only 10K miles is a whopping $7500. I understand you did the SR20DET engine swap and all but is that really going to up the price another $5-6K?

Well, good luck with it!

Mod list for my car:
S14 SR20DET w/ 22,000 miles
Greddy RSPL front mount intercooler
ACT Heavy Duty Street Clutch
HKS Hi-Power exhaust with 3 in. piping
Catco high flow cat.
Greddy Type-S BOV
Koyo Dual row aluminum radiator
B&M short shifter kit
Tein Type-HE suspension
Battle Version Rear Upper Control Arms
Apex'i SAFC
Greddy Profec-B
Greddy Turbo Timer
Boost, EGT, and A/F gauges
5Zigen Typhoons 17x9 in rear, and 17x8 in front (still have stock SE wheels as well)
JDM Headlights
Replaced stock VLSD
300zx front brake upgrade (reman. calipers, brembo slotted rotors, metal masters pads, and SS lines)
300zx Brake Master Cylinder
....and several other various odds and ends.

I've seen cars with less than i have done to mine go for 12's...so i think its a pretty good estimation

EDIT: I also have a Walbro 255lph fuel pump and Fal 14" fan installed on the car, along with new belts and brand new Tein tie rods+ends. Also has a brand new Alpine head unit coupled with infinity perfect components and speakers.

A 55K mileage M3 should be no problem.... just make sure it was taken care of with maintenance and you know paint and what not....

But yea I had a 90' 5 series (that I sold a couple years ago, about 3 or 4) with like 215,000 miles on it and it was still running fine with the same engine and everything....Just takes care to make these cars last that long, care for it and it will take care of you =).

The 5er is still running today (just to let you know) with more miles on it!

And the 94 325is with 112k that I sold to get my M3 was still running strong!

Just takes maintenance....Don't fake on the oil changes or other things like that.

try asking for service records from the owner

Not to insult you about your car, but you wont get anywhere near the money you want. I was looking into trading my 2001 Celica GTS in, forget it they want to give me like 12k. Good luck anyways, make sure you have them use plenty of lube.

The engine holds up well, its just everything else that wears. Of course parts are going to wear, but My M3s parts wear alot quicker than my Accord's parts for obvious reasons. If youre going to buy a used M3 just make sure you always have about $1,000 you can spend on it to do repairs. I bought my M in February and since then I have replaced waterpump, thermostat, struts, shocks, control arms, tierods, boots, fuel sending units and valve cover gasket. Granted these are all "routine maintenance" its still alot of money to shell out on parts.

Oh yeah and buy a Bentley manual and do everything yourself, unless you want to pay $92 an hour at the dealer.
