3rd Gear Grinding

HEY GUYS NEED SOME ADVICE.. WHEN I DRIVE MY 325IS (92) HARD AND PUSH THE RED LINE AND SHIFT TO THIRD GEAR IT GRINDS REAL HARD... BUT WHEN I SHIFT SLOWLY AT AROUND 2500-3500RPM IT SHIFTS JUST FINE WHAT THE HELL HELP ????

must be the synchro.. i heard it happened on 3rd gears in the e36's... i had a buddy who had 11 miles until his warrenty died and it happened, he barely got to the dealer and they replaced the whole tranny (97 m3)

Is the clutch in all the way? Be nice to your synchros

I had that same thing with my transmission with only around 40K on my engine. I really happened when I was downshifting from 4th to 3rd. This happened especially on cold mornings at the start of the day's driving. I replaced the transmission fluid with redline MTF and I never heard the grinding again. You might want to try that.
