E36 Sidemoldings (Newbie questions)

I want to go to a monochromatic scheme. I have been pondering painting the ground effects and lower bumpers to match the rest of the car.

I've read the mention of non m3 owners changing their sidemoldings (not skirts) to the M3 versions.

Can the stock 3 series moldings be painted to match the body?


What are the differences from the stock ones and the m3's? Anyone have pix I could compare to understand?

yes some people with non m3's change their mouldings to m3 type mouldings. You can have your stock moldings painted to your car's color. And the difference between the 2 is that the non m3 molding "juts" out more and is more blocky, with the m3 moldings on the other hand they're more flat and smoother kinda like the mouldings on the rear and front bumpers.
