i'm a midshipman at the us naval academy and i'm about to be able to finally own a car (at the beginning of my junior year) and since high school i've had my sights on a brand new e46 m3 but i don't think that will become a reality. my family just bought a new 325i and want to stick me with it. i'm thinking after browsing these forums for nearly 3 years that it would be a perfect project car to try to make a 4 door m3 replica. we bought the car for under 30k brand new (sounds like a good deal i know) but has the following goodies (or lack of):
black leatherette
no xenons
no power seats
assembled in south africa (not germany, although that's where the engine is from)
and i think this is why the car was so cheap. i'm thinking i'm going to be bringing this car over to annapolis from LA in about august. when i do that, i want to have it with some mods (as i'm going to have a little cash to spend on it, aka money that would have gone into buying an m3). i was looking around the forums and saw a picture of an e46 m3 replica featured in tuningwerks (?)
questions (these will make more sense with that picture):
will those stock m3 mirrors fit?
are those m3 front and rear panels?
is that the stock front and rear bumper?
what about that exhaust?
i want to also put in an AA supercharger, but only thing is, car's AUTO... are there any other performance options? don't say buy a 330 because that's not going to happen... i want to have everything planned to go incase i get stuck with this car so i can make the most of it you know? if now, i'll definately post pics of my m3 (although this is unlikely). Please help a shipmate out, thanks!
