E46 E-brake problem

i have an 01 325i 4 door. I just replaced the rear rotors and e-brake shoes. the e-brake only holds if the car is on a downhill slope, but it wont hold on an uphill slope. all the parts are Authentic BMW parts from the dealer. Whats the deal?

Yep, its a defect. Friends bodyshop had 2 E46 M3s in two weeks ago within days after rolling down backwards into parked cars. Leave it in first gear as a percautionairy.
