Exclamation Wtf Is Wrong With My Car!!!!!! Please Help Guys, Asap!!!!

I just bought a 96 328is. When I was done fooling around in the car, I went to close the driver's side window and it would only roll up less than half-way. After pulling and pushing the window, I finally gave up and slammed the door. Then I hear some part in the door either dislocate or break or something, and suddenly the window works! The window was kind of crooked and did not go under the weather stripping, which was just replaced and is still not softened up. To top it off, this morning, the passenger side window is starting to have problems rolling up as well. I press the up button and it goes up a little, then stops and rolls down a little. I have to repeatedly press the button over and over little by little to get the window to close. This problem also exists on my driver's side window too. So now I got both windows with electrical problems and the driver side widnow may possibly need a new motor. TO TOP IT OFF, MY F*CKIN SUNROOF DOES NOT COMPLETELY CLOSE!!! The sunroof opens very little and does not completely close. Also, the part of the sunroof that can be moved by hand, that sliding part, is possibly stuck inside the sunroof, in the area where the sunroof rolls back to. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!! IM SUPPOSED TO BE ENJOYING THE FIRST DAYS WITH MY CAR, NOT LOATHING THEM

Try lubing the sunroof rails, it is common with sunroofs to close slowly or get stuck when the rails, cables get dry. Use spray on grease or Teflon lube. I had this problem with my Benz and my BMW and lubing the rails and cables helped alot! If it is stuck, you may be able to manually overide the motor with a screwdriver through a service port that should be by the overhead lights and sunroof switch.

As for the windows, I don't know. Maybe you should post to the E36 section for those answers.
The only thing I experienced is that the window switches on the center console sometimes crap out. They are reasonably cheap $20-$30. Buy one and put one in and see if it helps. I know my E30 benefited from new window switches.

Hope this helps,

OK, HERES THE DEAL....THE WINDOWS HAVE TO BE RE-INITALIZED. ROLL THE WINDOW ALL THE WAY UP, HOLD THE BUTTON DOWN UNTIL IT REACED BOTTOM AND THEN HOLD IT DOWN UNTIL IT REACHED UP. DO THIS 2 TIMES AND IT SHOULD RESOLVE YOUR ISSUE....AS FOR THE SUNROOF, IT IS ALSO A COMMMON PREOBLEM. YOU CAN TRY THE SAME REMEDY. SOMETIMES IT HAS TO BE DONE AT THE DEALER THOUGH UNFORTUNATELY. IF YOU NEED ME

HMM.... i had the same problem... when i went to my friends shop to get it fix.. i found out it was the regulater.. its the tin metal piece that retracts up and down... its either bent or very weak.... its about 80 bucks each side.. aint that bad... once you get that fix make sure you lube the sides.... often for a while until your window starts rolling up and down smooth again.... when you lube it dont use wd40.. that will just make your rubber piece on the side expand.. and cause more problem... use armor all or some sort of oil

UPDATE

The driver's side window is now completely broken, it wont roll up or down, I hear the motor working, but the window doesn't move. The passenger window works ok, it sometimes stops going up when the button is pressed, but it does it seldom and other then that it works fine. The sunroof is still f*cked up, theres no way in hell i can fix that one. My first week with my BMW is now officially a nightmare. I can only park the car in my dads garage, which means his 740 has to chill outside on the street. And when I park my car somewhere, Im shitting bricks as to whether or not someone is climbing in the car from the driver's side window. What a nightmare........

i had the same problem in my 97 ti. most likely one of your tracks that the window sits in when the scissor arm puts the window up has dislocated from the ball/socket joint. you'll need to pull your door panel nad fiddle around in there to make it work. i found an extra window mechanism form when my car was wrecked in my garage and used that. check your connections for your wires, antiseize or white lithium the track, and check the bolts that hold the mechanism to the door. also, be sure the window is in its velevet-lined rubber track on the front and rear of the door. watch your hands in there as it is easy to pinch them while messing around with the controls.

also check to see that the weather-stripping that was just replaced was installed correctly, mine was installed upside down and i determined that was what started throwing the whole mechanism out of line.

I have the same problem with my 98' 328. When I press the button for my driver's side window to go up, it will go up a quarter of the way and then go back down a little. This doesn't always happen and if I hold the button down, it goes all the way up. It's fukin annoying!

It seems like there's always some little thing going wrong with my car. One thing after another! God damn it. Anyone eles experience this with their car?

I have the same thing (window goes up about 3" then goes down about 1") with my 96 328is driver window. I have tried lubing everything and I replaced the nylon runners that were suggested but no help. If anyone figures this one out please post it.
