broke my shifter...help...

tonite i was comin home and i went from 3rd to 4th and my shifter disconected and became loose and now my car is stuck in 3rd gear...wtf? the shifter just falls over to and fro now...what have i done? there was a lot of play in the shifter before now i cant even change gears...someone help!!!! what did i do?

there is a clip undeneath. the clip is about $1 from dealer. get a couple of the yellow washers too. note that they are flat on one side & rounded on the other. it's hard to reach above the trans but you can do it. a light & mirror may help. also check internet for instructions for changing shifter. it's easier than it sounds.

sounds like a call to UUC is in order
