Are parking tickets bad?

I used to thinkparking tickets were no big deal. Throughout 5 years of college, i must have recieved at least 15 of them, and paid maybe 5. Its been over a year now and since all of them have been added up, additional fees and fines added, and forwarded to a collection agency.

A few hundred dollars worth of tickets has turned into nearly a couple thousand.

I know they COULD issue a warrent, COULD garnish my wages, etc, etc...but I still have not paid. I don't plan to pay them until I have money to spare which may be awhile.

So what do you think I should do, anyone else gotten themselves into this situation?

just pay because they will not go away...they will not forget..they will at some point stop registering your vehicle. They are a nuisance, but you had to have done something to get them so just pay its the easy and most painless way.especially if you pay them early.

i know in new york they do not issue a warrant for arrest unless u have like 1000 parking tickets...u can always go to court with them and plea it down to the orginal amount... i know where i live they think its a bonus if u pay any parking ticket

From an old UNH Transportation Services Employee, pay them. All that happens is the fine keeps getting higher and higher. Before you know it, you will have a BOOT on your car, or even worse, it could be TOWED. I am no longer a Di*khead there anymore..(Even tho I was high up there, so all I did was hang out and tell people what to do)
I say pay them ASAP...like Ayton said, they will not go away, and if you get a new car, they follow you.

i've had countless parking tickets at my old school,and only paid like 2.about 2 yrs later,i received at least 6 notices of liscence suspensions and massive fines to keep my liscence.i used to put old tickets i had on my windshield and just park anywhere until they caught up with me.

HAHA, I did that trick once..I came back and had two tickets.

I will pay them ASAP, but that may not be for awhile. I hope I can still register my car!

The problem was I always got them in the same area and the meter maids knew what my car looked like, so after awhile it was a serious gamble to park where I wasn't supposed to.

i beleive how it works is that if you dont pay them and you go to the DMV they wont do anything until you pay the tickets since
its in their computer so you can renew your license or register a new car etc

My license is currently under suspension due to 8 unpaid parking tickets. They are a pain in the ass, but you must pay them.

No, stop laughing, its not funny! The fines and penalties now added up are 425$ and theres also a license reissuing fee

Eventually they'll take legal action. If it's in the couple thousands.. then you can definately count on further actions from them... if it's just a few hundred... then eventually you won't be able to register your car. If you drive your car back to school... and you're parked illegally again, you'll get booted. No matter how it goes, you gonna have to pay up sooner or later. Here in Virginia... you can't get your county sticker if you have unpaid parking tickets.
