swapping an e46 m3 engine in a e46 328ci

will there be any difficulties if i wanted to put an e46 M3 engine in my e46 328ci engine bay. will it be a direct fit or would i have to modify my engine bay, the same thing goes to the tranny, ecu and to the transmission (switching from steptronic to 6 speed).
all together it should cost me no more than $6000.
anybody swapped an M3 engine into a 3-series e46 yet any problems? was it easy ? hard?

6k seems low. are you sure its just that much? good luck with it though

p.s. are you including labor in this estimate or will you be doing it yourself

i will be installing it my self. actually i can get the engine and tranny for 5500 or so...its really not that expensive you just have to know were to look.
