| paint my moldings? i went down to the body shop today to pick up a new pair of headlight trims i had painted, and i was talking with the guy about getting my moldings painted. he told me a big sob story about how it's impossible, and the paint won't last very long, it will flake off, because something in the plastic reacts with the paint and eats it up from underneath, even if they are sanded, yadda yadda ya. he told me i had to get a special molding that was designed to be painted. anyone have anything to say about this? nate

| It is possible, you just need to find the right shop that knows how to do it. Depending on the type of paint/method, different prep steps need to be taken to ensure the paint cures correctly. As for the look, well, it depends on the color of the car. I only really like it on white and silver E36s. Although it works well on red too - Scottycs and Stylin's cars both look great with their painted moldings. ![]() |

| mine have been on for a few months and only one piece is having issues on the door...the others are great and have been washed a ton of times..just some tips sand them down really well with 400 grit sandpaper, then use good primer and add flex agent to the paint
