Rieger addon fitting problem...

So i just got my Rieger Tuning chin spoiler for the facelifted sedan and i went outside to try to see how it would look so i tried to slap it on, but here's the problem, it would not go all the way around for some reason, I had to pull on the other end like a MOFO trying to reach the other end so i can wrap around the other corner. Did i get a defective addon? For sopme reason I think that if i take the bumper off completely end then try to mold it on, then it will bend a lil, thus making the addon fit. Can someone elaborate on this issue a lil more? Did i get a defective one or do i simply need to install it while the bumper is off the car-alowing flexibility of the plastic, the addon is plastic.

1. Should the addon on be places behind the front bumper (allowing for flexibility/bending to fit it whlie its taken off?
2. Or should it be placed behind the fender lining-cause that's what i coulnd't get to on the other end while the bumper was on the car
