Tint does not affect radar detection at all, lets repeat that, TINT DOES NOT AFFECT RADAR DETECTION! But lasers on the other hand, it does. Greater the tint, the more laser light it blocks. Last edited by Ximian : 08-03-2003 at 10:30 PM.

Radar is based on radio waves and it has several different useful applications, such as detecting the speed an object is going or what the weather is going to be like. (Well, radar doesn't do that, but the information from it helps determine it) And you should know what a laser is... If you don't, here's something that is used to explain to three year olds what it is - http://www.colorado.edu/physics/2000/lasers/

haha.. wow, people gettin HARSH on this topic.. ahah.. anyhow, i dont think the dark tint would effect radar detector because radar runs on waves.. errm wow how should i put this ? hehe.. well to help u further understand about laser, buy a laswer pointer for like 5-20$.. if u shine a laswer at regular no tint window then it will go through fine, but if u get tinted to like 20% and so on, and try to shine a laswer pointer through it, you wont see it as clearer as u would on a window wit no tint.. now thats why tint would effect laser, but as for radar, they run on waves, like Ximian says radio waves, and radio waves is like wireless network, on PC.. or cordless phones, waves can travel all around because its not using light, its using waves.. ahha, well hope that helps on the explanation.. in other words ur tint shouldnt effect the valentine radar.. but as for metalic tint, i dont know there could be possibility those tints woudl effect because of the metalic tint i am guessing bounces the waves off the tint.. not sure.. correct me if i am wrong please, thanks.

Police can use both radar and lasers, but radars are a lot more common. And to figure out how much your tint affects you, do what was suggest earlier and buy a laser pointer and shine it through the windshield, that should give you an idea. Also, I wrote a really long description of the Electromagnetic spectrum, but my computer froze up from overheating because I didn't notice the motor on my box fan died (RIP, 2001-2003) so now I will replace it with a NASAs description of it for children. http://imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/sc...mspectrum.html
