| Teenager? Whats up guys!?!? Well I was planning on getting a VW GTi VR6, but I heard that all VW's are very expensive to insure. I am only 16, 17 in a month, my question is how much is it gonna cost me to insure a 1997 BMW M3, I am planning to get one in Spetember and is their anyway to get lower insurance rates like using one of my parents cars as my main driver? Any and all help is appreciated!

| I know that it is gonna be more to insure bro, but I have wanted an M3 for a long time and I would really love to have one. I have driven M3's before and I know how powerful they are, so that's not a worry to me, but isn't their a way to insure me under one of my parent's cars and my insurance will be cheaper? My firend has an Eclipse but is insured under his parent's Explorer cause it is much cheaper. Thanks for any help!

As far as insurance, I suppose you can do what your friend did, but I believe it causes problems if you were to be involved in an accident with the M3. I'll have to ask my mom, she works for an insurance company.

| yeh, u can do taht. for example if you put yourself as primary driver on the m3, it'd be hellllllla $$$, but if you have a 2nd car, like a civic for example, and you are insured in the policy with the civic, and your parents are on the m3. you should be able to drive the m3 with no problem. But it may depend on your insurance company, i have state farm. and my insurance agent said i can do that.

| If you could ask your mom for me then that would be great man and it would be very much appreciated. Anyone else have anything to help me out or to tell me?

| Dude, getting an M3 at 16, or even 17 is not too bright. At that age we (guys) are all too cocky, and something to bound to go wrong. Learn to get better at driving, before buying a car like that. But thats just my opinion, im no mama

you are 16... you couldnt have had your license for more then a year. how can you say "ive wanted one for SO long" id take a shittier gti for a little while, then when you are good at driving, go for the M.. no need to rush! it'll be there good luck with whatever you get though, an m3 is the best! |

| When I was 8 years old my uncle had a M3 and I got to ride in it a few times and ever since I have wanted one.

| Yeah, I'm 17 and I drive a 1986 325es. First mod I did was a chip, and just installed Bilstein Sports, H&R springs, new control arms, tie rod assmeblies, shock mounts, swaybar, swaybar bushings and links, and new steering rack. I also went to the Skip Barber Driving School a week after I got my license. I HIGHLY recommend taking the course. Not only did I get to drive an ACR Viper on a rainy AutoX track, but I learned many valuable skills. I say put some money into Skip Barber, and buy a 328is... |

| Humm.... I seriously think you should not get a m3 right off the bat. First of all, it's just plain dangerous, especially since you sound like you THINK you are a pretty good driver. No matter how good of a driver you are, your age makes you want to beat the sh*t out of the next ricey integra that pulls up next to you... to do donuts for no reason... and to drive as fast as you can when girls are watching. I don't know you, maybe you are not like that... but most guys your age are like that in one way or the other, and it would not be prudent to presume you would be any different. Second, once you get the m3, what else is there left for you to desire?? Getting that car you really want should be a journey, if you get it all at once, there would be no pleasure out of it. If you have never been stuck with a slower car before, you will never fully realize the awesome feeling of a m3, or any BMW for that matter. Seriously, get a VW, learn how to drive safely... save yourself some $$$ in the meanwhile, and get that m3 when you are older.

| In my recommendation I'd either get the M3 or buy a VW now and a brand new M3 later. It's all up to you, but if you really want an M3, go for it. I got my M Roadster almost 2 years ago, I'm 21 right now. As for insurance, try going with AAA and make sure your BMW is under your parents policy as a leisure/weekend cruise, not a daily driver. That should save you a bunch, and try not to get any tickets/violations. |
