| Maintenence Question!! help! Hey guys, ive read that after a certain year, BMW's have something called a "maintenence free" engine...Basically my mom had a 94' 540i that was in the dealership a lot for regularly scheduled tune-ups that cost her lots and lots of money (like $500-$1500 a trip) My question was, what year did BMW make it so you dont have to take your car in for the tune-ups, you only have to get regular stuff done to it (such as oil change etc...) THANKS!!!      |

| hmmm never heard of this my my old 1990 525i had 250,00 with no MAJOR work just tune up and replacement of parts that don't last that long.

| The E34 is acctually known as the safest buy when it comes to tune-ups and expenses so it must be your mum thats the problem  jk It could be just a single case... mine has 160k km and no problem.. but thats a '95 520 though..
